AAF to the NFL continues to flow.Safety Ed Reynolds will work out with the Falcons today Britton Colquitt Jersey , per a league source. This is just the first stop; other teams have interest in Reynolds.A fifth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2014, Reynolds has spent time with Philly and Cleveland. He last played in the NFL in 2016, and he has made the most of the second chance he secured with the Atlanta Legends of the now-defunct AAF.The resurrection of Reynolds’ career underscores the value of a spring football league to the NFL. But the NFL apparently doesn’t deem it to be valuable enough, or the NFL would have its own. After all, each team ultimately has only 53 regular-season roster spots, and for every Ed Reynolds who potentially parlays a spot in a developmental league into an NFL job, there will be a guy with an NFL job who lost it to Reynolds. BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Baker Mayfield’s baptism with the Browns is complete. Some coaching chaos made it official.Cleveland’s rookie quarterback admitted Wednesday he was stunned by the firings of coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who were dismissed within an hour of each other on Monday. Owner Jimmy Haslam cited “internal discord” as the primary reason behind the team’s latest reboot.“It was just surprising to me,” Mayfield said before practice as the Browns began preparing for their game Sunday against quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the high-scoring Kansas City Chiefs. “I have never gone through anything like that. That is my ‘welcome to the business moment,’ I think.”Sadly, coaching swaps and front-office purges are a rite of passage for any Browns player over the past 20 years.“This is my third head coach in five years,” said linebacker Christian Kirksey. “I am used to it, being able to adjust and stuff.”It’s mostly new to Mayfield, who went through something similar at Oklahoma when Bob Stoops retired and was replaced by Lincoln Riley.“It was different. It was new to us. We used that to come together,” he said. “I expect the guys in here to be grown men, to be experienced football players and to handle it that way and keep that same mindset of that we have the same goal. We need to reach that and work with each other.“With all the distractions Tyrod Taylor Jersey , we will see what kind of men we have in this room. Not what kind of team that we have but what kind of men can handle a distraction the right way, can come together and focus on doing their job and doing it at a high level against a great teamcome Sunday,” Mayfield said.As the No. 1 overall pick and fresh face of Cleveland’s franchise, Mayfield knows he has to be the one to guide the Browns through more turbulence.“Bring it on,” he said. The Browns (2-5-1) practiced Wednesday for the first time under the guidance of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, Buffalo’s former coach who will serve as the team’s interim coach while general manager John Dorsey takes the initial steps in finding Cleveland’s ninth coach since 1999.Rain forced the team inside its facility and the tone was noticeably serious during the portion of the workout open to media members. Williams barked out praise to a few players during position drills.Following practice, Williams said that like Mayfield, he was shocked by the firings and admitted to having reservations about taking over.“The hesitancy was, ‘Uh, not again,’ and I stepped away,” he said. “I stepped back, but then, it came back to this. I can’t spell quit, let alone do quit. I’m not going to quit on these players. I’m not going to quit on this organization. I’m not going to do whatever. That’s just how I had to feel, and when we went through the process, we went through the process Baker Mayfield Color Rush Jersey , and now, let’s get on to Kansas City. I blinked a little bit.The brash and boastful Williams didn’t announce his candidacy for the job, and he refused to address his role in the New Orleans “Bountygate” scandal. The NFL suspended Williams for the 2012 season after ruling that while the Saints defensive coordinator he orchestrated a program by which players were paid for knocking opponents from a game.“That thing was a long time ago,” Williams said when asked if he ever imagined being a head coach again. “That’s nothing that we’re talking about now.”The Browns are trying to stay in the present, and that’s the challenge. As the losses mount, this season is beginning to feel like so many others. But left guard Joel Bitonio doesn’t feel the same sense of dread as in previous years.“I don’t think we’re giving up,” he said. “This is a step to try to improve the team. We made a decision early in the season, but we have half the season left. We’re a few plays here and there from being 5-2-1 or 4-3-1.“We’re not far away, and I don’t think this is a step where they’re tearing everything down. We’re just moving in a different direction. We have eight games to prove this team can go out, compete and try to find some wins out there.”NOTES: Because of his connection to Mayfield, Riley has been mentioned as a potential candidate for Cleveland’s coaching job. Mayfield feels his former coach would adapt easily to the pro game. “I think his style would work, but that is just because of who he is,” Mayfield said. “He is smart. He gets his guys to believe in him.” … With RBs coach Freddie Kitchens taking over for Haley, the Browns hired former NFL back Ryan Lindley to their staff. Lindley played for Kitchens with Arizona.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay the last time he saw him in person on a football field. While 2018 was a disappointing year for Matthews overall Kentrell Brice Color Rush Jersey , his best game of the season arguably came against McVay and the Rams in October. Matthews notched a season-high seven tackles and recorded one of his 3.5 sacks on the season. Matthews may be set to enter his 11th season in the NFL, but the prospect of having Matthews a part of a Wade Phillips defense has McVay eager to get started.“We saw a lot of good stuff when we saw him last year and I’ve always respected his game from afar when you’ve coached against him,” McVay told reporters this week at the coaches’ breakfast at the league meetings. “So when you’re able to add two players like he and Eric Weddle – veteran players that are about the right stuff, being out in L.A. it’s a good deal to be able to get Clay back home.”Specifically, it’s Matthews’ versatility that McVay is most excited to see join his team.“He brings a veteran presence that has a lot of versatility to his skill set,” McVay said. “And when you look at it from an offensive standpoint when you think about the guys that can do a lot of different things that pose problems to a defense he does the same thing to offenses. He can rush the passer he can play in coverage. You can move him all over the place. So I think versatile players that are smart that have the ability to have production in a lot of ways they give you a lot of different things they can do defensively.”Matthews thought the fit with the Rams would be ideal for him as well. He’ll get a chance to pair with Dante Fowler, Michael Brockers and Aaron Donald on the Rams defensive line. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers wasn’t in much of a mood to celebrate his 35th birthday. Not after another loss for the sliding Green Bay Packers. The same problems keep popping up for the offense, most glaringly, empty third downs and a lack of explosive plays. But Sunday’s 20-17 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals was definitely a surprise. Coach Mike McCarthy was fired after Green Bay stumbled once again.“We’re just not executing well and it’s the same things over and over,” Rodgers said before the coaching change was announced. The loss to one of the NFL’s worst teams was another blow to the fading playoff hopes for the Packers (4-7-1). Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin was promoted to interim head coach. It’s still mathematically possible for Green Bay to catch NFC North-leading Chicago (8-4) https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Geronimo-Allison-Jersey , which lost to the Giants. To do that though, a once-productive offense will have to find its way.“We didn’t play well today. I’m not going to sit up here and try to sugarcoat it,” McCarthy said right after the loss.Green Bay’s tough day helped the Cardinals shatter the image of Lambeau Field as an intimidating venue for a warm-weather team in wintry conditions. The temperature at kickoff was 34 degrees, but the wind chill made it feel like 23. Flurries fell on and off throughout the game.Instead, the Packers looked out of sorts.A couple of Rodgers’ throws were off, especially in the first half. There were too many drops by receivers. The offensive line lost its two starters on the right side when guard Byron Bell and tackle Bryan Bulaga left in the first half with knee injuries.Zane Gonzalez kicked a 44-yard field goal for Arizona with 1:41 left. Green Bay’s Mason Crosby missed a 49-yard attempt as time expired.Crosby pushed his kick wide right, with the flags atop Lambeau blowing in toward the field at the time of the play. In pregame warmups, Crosby said kicks were going right to left.“Both ends were fairly difficult. The wind was swirling,” Crosby said. The final attempt “wanted to go right, so I was pretty shocked about, and obviously disappointed.”The Packers won the Super Bowl under McCarthy in 2010. But this is a third straight year in which Green Bay has had extended struggles. In 2016 Oren Burks Jersey , the Packers started 4-6 but won eight straight games to get to the NFC title game, losing to the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs in 2017, when Rodgers missed extensive time with a broken collarbone. This year, Rodgers hurt his left knee in the season opener, though he is feeling better now. Receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison have missed time with injuries.Cobb’s return on Sunday didn’t help, with the Packers just 3 of 14 on third down.“I hate to repeat myself, but it’s applicable. … We’re not executing the right way,” Rodgers said.“It’s poor throws, not on the same page with receivers, wrong depth, protection Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey ,” he added. “We all have a part in that and we’ve all picked our time to mess up a third down.”The opening play of the fourth quarter was a perfect example of Green Bay’s offensive struggles. Rodgers found Cobb for a 36-yard completion on third-and-11, but the play was wiped out by a holding penalty on right tackle Jason Spriggs.Rodgers said his focus was getting his teammates to “play with that pride” and focus on the next four games.“Yeah, I mean I’m not even thinking about that right now,” Rodgers said when asked if he would have any role after the season with general manager Brian Gutekunst or team president Mark Murphy about what direction they should go with the coaching staff. The offensive players, Rodgers said, bear blame for whatever happens in the future.“Yeah, a lot probably. We haven’t played very well,” he said.

For some fans it’s too drastic of a flip in philosophy. For others, preaching patience to an eager fanbase becomes a common retort to those on the other side of the fence.`Once again, the Colts have largely been quiet in the early stages of free agency. They’ve re-signed Chris Milton, signed Pierre Desir to a 3-year deal, and though it hasn’t been officialized by the team to this point, they have reportedly agreed to terms with WR Devin Funchess. Meanwhile, there are a few teams who have scooped up a litany of available talent in the first official 24 hours of free agency. The Packers, Jets, Bills, Titans, and Raiders have all been quite active thus far. As a result, most of those players many theorized would land in Indy have signed elsewhere. There is absolutely a healthy second tier of available free agents that the Colts could bring in some great additions to make their roster better overall, so people shouldn’t be stepping out onto that ledge quite yet.Luke Schultheis joins Matt Danely today to discuss all of the above. They talk about who the Colts have signed, and what they think of the moves, who slipped through their grasp, as well as some names to keep your eyes on in the days ahead. Please subscribe, rate and review the channel anywhere you listen to podcasts.Follow our hosts on Twitter: @MDanelySB | @HolderStephen | @TheStable_PodStampede Blue Podcast Links:Apple Podcasts | Stitcher | Megaphone | SB Colts Cast YT Channel | Google | Spotify INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard followed the pattern through the first two days of the NFL draft.First, he moved back to get more picks. Then he invested heavily in the defense. And finally Adam Vinatieri Jersey , he gave quarterback Andrew Luck some help. After trading away Indy’s first-round pick on Thursday, Ballard took cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, pass-rushing linebacker Ben Banogu and receiver Parris Campbell with his three second-round picks and closed out Day 2 by taking linebacker Bobby Okereke in the third round. But it wasn’t just the way Ballard drafted that seemed so familiar; it was who he took and what they sounded like, too.“I only played football in high school for two years so I was slightly under recruited, I feel like,” Ya-Sin said. “I just believed in myself. I felt like I had the talent, I had the work ethic and I had great coaches that were pushing me.”Ya-Sin impressed the Colts so much in his only season at the Bowl Subdivision level at Temple that Indy took him No. 34 — the first time they’ve chosen a cornerback that high since selecting Marlin Jackson No. 29 overall in 2005.Last year, Ballard used the first of his four second-round picks, No. 36 overall, on another overlooked prep player who wound up at a Football Championship Subdivision school, linebacker Darius Leonard. He led the NFL in tackles, was named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year and became a first-team All-Pro in 2018.This time, with a pick acquired from the New York Jets in 2018, Ballard took the 6-foot, 192-pound Ya-Sin, a two-time George state wrestling champion with a reputation for getting physical.Ya-Sin played his first three seasons at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina — just 100 miles from Leonard’s alma mater, South Carolina State — before finishing 14th in the FBS with 12 passes defensed last season at Temple. Ya-Sin also earned a single-digit jersey, an honor reserved for the Owls’ toughest players.Could Ballard hit it big again with a defense that made major strides in its first season under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus?“Gil Brandt said something the other night Marvin Harrison Color Rush Jersey , he said I’ve always loved guys who transfer up,” Ballard said. “Why do they do it?Because they know they’re good. Rock did that, Ben did the same thing. They have a high level of confidence they can play. That was one of the neat things about Darius, he stepped on that Senior Bowl field and he belonged. These kids believe they belong.”In the meantime, Ballard continues to collect talent and picks. After sending the No. 26 overall pick to Washington for two second-rounders Thursday, Ballard dealt the first of the two picks, No. 49 overall, to Cleveland, moved back three spots, found another pass-rusher in the 6-4, 249-pound Banogu and added a fifth-round pick to his draft weekend arsenal.Banogu played primarily defensive line in college and after transferring from Louisiana-Monroe to TCU in 2016, recorded 8 ½ sacks in each of his final two college seasons. The Colts envision using him all over the field.“I’m ready to do just about anything. With the coaching staff and my football I.Q., I feel like I can pick it up pretty fast and be effective,” he said. “Doing some of the linebacker stuff at the Senior Bowl really opened my eyes to all the neat ways you can kind of create plays and turnovers for your team.”Then Ballard got some help for Luck — taking the 6-1, 208-pound Campbell at No. 59. Campbell and Andy Isabella were tied for the fastest 40-yard dash time (4.31 seconds) among receivers at February’s scouting combine. Campbell caught a single-season school-record at Ohio State with 90 receptions last season. He also had 1,063 yards and 12 TDs.Ballard closed out the day by adding the 6-3, 239-pound Okereke from Stanford. The fifth linebacker selected by the Colts since 2018 recorded 182 tackles and 7½ sacks in his final two college seasons. And the Colts may be just getting started. Ballard has two picks each in the fourth and fifth rounds and six picks total on Saturday.“We’re playing a lot of teams with very good quarterbacks this year and you’ve got to be able to run them down,” Ballard said. That’s always going to be a priority for us.”
season came to a halt in Dallas on Sunday when they faced off with the Dallas Cowboys and a very similar style of play and strategy. Both teams want to run the ball Tre Flowers Color Rush Jersey , control the clock and play solid defense. It was the third time these two teams have met in the past thirteen months, and in watching the game it was readily apparent early on that the Seahawks were using the exact same gameplan they had used in the two prior matchups against the Cowboys. The first of those prior games game came in Week 16 of the 2017 season, after the Seahawks had been dealt losses to both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Rams in the prior two weeks. The Seahawks played very conservatively in eking out a victory over Dallas that day. Then, in Week 3 of the 2018 season the Hawks notched their first victory of the season by using the same gameplan. Running often and playing the field position game, and with a handful of successful pass plays thrown in, Seattle was able to overcome a Dallas team looking to play the exact same style. In any case, there has been plenty of discussion about the why and how the team lost, but essentially, they used the same gameplan for the third time in a row against the same opponent and this time it simply wan’t quite enough. We can look at run:pass ratio David Moore Color Rush Jersey , such as I did here, to understand the similarities in the gameplan. But former Field Gulls contributor Ben Baldwin broke down the difference between Week 3 and the Wild Card game very succinctly. And that’s basically it. Go two of thirteen on third down, and it becomes very hard to win a game against any opponent, much less on the road against a playoff caliber opponent. Keeping in mind that one of those third down conversions was Mike Davis running for a first down during the two minute drill to set up a 58 yard field goal attempt, and the Seahawks went one of twelve on third downs with more than three seconds left in a half. Thinking back to the two victories over the Arizona Cardinals, the Hawks combined to go just four of twenty four on third down in those two games, and we all know how close to losing both of those games the Hawks were. In any case, here’s a rundown of the playcalls for the three matchups on a drive by drive comparison, so feel free to further dissect the gameplan and the outcome.Play by Play overview of drives in last three games against CowboysDrive and PlayWild CardWeek 3Week 16 2017Drive and PlayWild CardWeek 3Week 16 2017It’s been fun kids https://www.theseahawksfanshop.com , and don’t disappear just because it’s the offseason. We’re about to get into some fun stuff as we’ll have time to look at a lot of specific questions without the hassle of having to worry about upcoming games and what not. In any case, the Seahawks 2018 season is in the books, but don’t wander too far because there is a ton of fun stuff to look at in the coming weeks. Don’t call it a clickbait. On Thursday, Heisman-winning quarterback Kyler Murray announced that he would be attending the combine this year, an event that starts just two weeks from next Tuesday. I imagine a lot of people have been and will be comparing him to Russell Wilson, a fact that naturally should lead the Seahawks to being one of the teams that takes a close look at Murray. It’s not as though Pete Carroll and John Schneider are going to be seeking a replacement for Wilson, who has just one year left on the deal he signed in 2015, but it’s also not as though they’ll overlook a potential one when perfect timing rolls outside the pocket. If they were considering Patrick Mahomes in 2017 — when they had virtually no chance at drafting him as it turned out — then obviously they’re going to consider taking a quarterback who might not even be considered a first round pick if not for the groundwork laid down by Carroll and Wilson in the first place. And at a time when that quarterback might actually be in a draftable position for the Seahawks.Seattle is choosing 21st overall and while the expectation is that they’ll trade down in a year when they have just four picks — I’d put those odds over 90%— the front office isn’t going to be so dead set in their “down at all costs” ways as to pass over a potential franchise quarterback when they saw first-hand the value of a quarterback on his rookie deal. Wilson. Mahomes. Jared Goff. Carson Wentz. Dak Prescott. Dashaun Watson. Mitchell Trubisky. In some of those cases, we’ve seen that the quarterback doesn’t even have to be that good. The Jaguars maybe don’t get as far as they did in 2017 if not for adequate play by Blake Bortles and cap space for Calais Campbell Seahawks Customized Color Rush Jerseys , A.J. Bouye, Malik Jackson, Marcell Dareus, and others.Wilson is a $25 million quarterback now. He could be a $35 million quarterback next. There’s also the possibility of a trade either way. Seattle doesn’t have a backup quarterback other than Paxton Lynch right now. Bringing in someone of that status to groom for a year and learn from the guy who is so much like him — under 6’, baseball/football player, kind eyes — almost makes a stupid amount of sense and brings immense relief around an organization that really has nowhere to go if anything happens to Wilson. The Chargers drafted Philip Rivers when they had Drew Brees. The 49ers had Steve Young and Joe Montana simultaneously. There will be questions about Murray’s ability to succeed at the next level and maybe few places that give him as good of an opportunity to be successful — or at least seem successful — than Seattle. We don’t know yet if Murray will be a top five pick and well out of the Seahawks range. We don’t know yet how enamored the Seahawks will or won’t be by Murray as the draft season goes on. But I feel like it would be safe to say that making a connection between the two is warranted — we were already connecting Murray and Wilson long before this.
chance to rebound from last week’s 31-13 thrashing at the hand of the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington has been mediocre at best for the majority of the season Youth Darryl Johnson Jersey , so the Bills are expected to win handily. However, the team has looked better since head coach Jay Gruden was fired, as interim coach Bill Callahan has the team playing hard. After Buffalo struggled to move the ball for much of the second half last week, the offense will certainly be excited for the chance to redeem itself. The same can be said for the defense, which looked lost in trying to stop Philadelphia’s running game. Here is our list of Buffalo players to watch this week.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="BJdXg5">QB Josh AllenBuffalo’s second-year quarterback has looked improved this season, but he still has plenty of work to do. Last week, he didn’t look comfortable throwing the ball in the wet, windy conditions while completing less than 50% of his passes for the first time this season. Against a Washington defense that has allowed an average of 240 passing yards per game, Allen has a chance to work effectively and efficiently following a poor performance. RB Devin SingletaryTo take a page from former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson’s playbook, “Just give him the damn ball!” Prior to his hamstring injury, Singletary only had a total of 15 touches in two games. He averaged 12.7 yards per rush and 5.6 yards per reception on those touches. Since returning from a hamstring injury, Singletary only has 14 total touches. He’s averaging 4.5 yards per rush and 7.5 yards per reception on those touches. The Bills drafted the dynamic running back in the third round presumably because he could add some explosion to the offense. He has done just that in his limited touches, yet he hasn’t seen an expansion of his role in the early going of his career. Washington has allowed 137.8 yards per game this year Womens Darryl Johnson Jersey , fifth worst in the league. It’s time Buffalo let the Motor run. DT Star LotuleleiIt’s darn near impossible to watch a defensive tackle on every play, but the takes surrounding Lotulelei reached a fever pitch this week after the Bills allowed 218 rushing yards against Philadelphia. Joe Buscaglia graded Lotulelei highly in his post-game review, but the veteran has still received some criticism for the failures of Buffalo’s run defense. The highly paid defensive tackle has one job—to keep his linebackers clean—and this week will present him with another tough test. Adrian Peterson, the ageless veteran, has averaged 92 yards on a 4.8 yards-per-carry-average over the last three weeks. Peterson should see a ton of carries this week, especially if veteran quarterback Case Keenum is out due to a concussion he suffered last week. Lotulelei will have to keep blockers off of Tremaine Edmunds and company if the Bills are going to improve on last week’s dreadful performance.LB Matt MilanoAfter showing that his hamstring was fully healthy last week—Milano led the Bills with 13 tackles in his return from injury—the pass-coverage specialist will have a tough job this weekend. The Bills have been abysmal against screens this year, and Washington may have pass-catching specialist Chris Thompson back from injury. Combine that with the possibility of a Haskins start, and it’s a recipe for plenty of short, high-percentage passes. If Milano plays the way he’s capable, he’ll be a huge part of shutting Washington down.CB Levi WallaceIt’s been a tough couple of weeks for Wallace, as the second-year corner was picked on by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago, and then followed up that performance by allowing a huge 38-yard completion to Alshon Jeffery last week against Philadelphia. Corners have a tough gig, as they could do their job on nine straight plays Authentic Darryl Johnson Jersey , then give up a huge catch on the tenth, and everyone wants to bench them over the one play they didn’t make. Wallace has set a high bar for himself in his young career, and over the last two games he hasn’t reached that standard. Against a Washington receiver group that includes burner Terry McLaurin, Wallace needs to bounce back. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Kyle Williams knows he’s more than capable of returning for a 14th season. What the Buffalo Bills defensive tackle wasn’t sure he can handle is spending another spring and summer of practice and training camp watching his children play T-ball and soccer on FaceTime. The lure of being with his family overcame Williams’ passion for football in announcing Friday that he’s retiring after Buffalo (5-10) closes its season hosting Miami (7-8) on Sunday.“I love team. I love competing. But at the end of the day, it comes down to what are the most important things,” the 35-year-old Williams said following practice. That still didn’t make it easy for Buffalo’s longest-active tenured player who established himself as a respected leader and fan favorite for his lunch-bucket approach in a blue-collar community.“I don’t know if there’s ever a good time, whether it’s now or whether it’s two years from now. It’s going to hurt walking away,” Williams said. “There’s going to be a void in my life because of how much this game and how much this organization and what this team has meant to me.”And yet, Williams is pleased to be leaving football on his own terms in being healthy and showing no signs of a drop in production. What he’s most proud of is having spent his entire career in Buffalo, while also proving wrong the skeptics who questioned whether the 6-foot-1, 300-pound player was too small to succeed at the NFL level after the Bills selected him in the fifth round of the draft out of LSU.“I think the hardest thing for me is going to be … walking away from something that they said I couldn’t do,” Williams said. “I think the main thing was that I never cheated anybody a day Darryl Johnson Jersey Boys , whether it’s our fans, our owners, my teammates. I literally gave all I had every day. And I’m comfortable knowing that and moving forward here.”Williams was a second-team All-Pro in 2010 and earned five Pro Bowl selections. He’s a Pro Bowl alternate this year, and welcomed the chance to compete if the opportunity came up to represent the Bills for one last time.Williams made up his mind to retire upon informing his wife a few weeks ago, before breaking the news to coach Sean McDermott on Monday.McDermott joked by calling the news “the worst Christmas present a man could get.”The coach then went on to praise Williams for what he’s meant to the Bills both on and off the field.“We need more Kyle Williams, although they’re hard to find,” McDermott said. “You can’t replace a guy like Kyle. They come around once in a career.”Williams became McDermott’s voice in the locker room, and served as mentor for the numerous youngsters Buffalo added this offseason.Williams’ influence even extended to offensive players, such as running back LeSean McCoy, who referred to the defensive tackle as one of the better leaders he’s ever been around.“Solid career. He’s a guy that likes to go against the odds. I like him, man, I like his hard work,” McCoy said. “When I came here Infant Darryl Johnson Jersey , I realized that type of play and attitude is what Buffalo is all about.”Even opponents paid tribute with the New England Patriots posting a note on their Twitter account, which read, “Nothing but respect.” The post was accompanied by a video of Williams and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shaking hands following New England’s 25-6 victory at Buffalo on Oct. 29.Williams’ retirement creates a large void for the Bills both on and off the field. And it comes 11 months after Buffalo lost another influential leader, when center Eric Wood was forced to retire after sustaining a career-ending neck injury.Out of 954 defensive plays through 15 games, Williams is second among Bills defensive linemen in playing 621 of them — four fewer than pass-rusher Jerry Hughes. Williams has five sacks, his most since having 5 1/2 in 2014, and has already surpassed last year’s totals with 13 quarterback hits and five tackles for losses.Overall, he has 48 1/2 sacks, 139 quarterback hits and 92 tackles for losses in 182 career games. He also scored on a one-yard touchdown run in a 22-16 win at Miami in last season’s finale, which, combined with Baltimore’s loss to Cincinnati, led to Buffalo clinching a playoff berth and ending a 17-year postseason drought.Williams’ favorite moment was following being with his teammates in the locker room following the win, and watching Cincinnati eliminate Baltimore from contention on Andy Dalton’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd on fourth down in the final minute. What made the moment extra special was how Williams enjoying the moment with his two sons.“They were pretty young Darryl Johnson Jersey Draft , but I hope they’ll remember that forever, because their dad won’t forget,” he said.Williams has no firm plans on what he’ll do next, while saying he’s had a discussion with McDermott about a possible role with the team.Though the Bills have taken a step back this season, Williams believes the team is headed in the right direction under McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane, and their vision to build through youth.“That’s what makes it tough moving away, because of the direction we’re moving, the young guys we have,” Williams said. “Just know that I’m always going to be a Buffalo Bill, and the main thing for those guys is they’ve got all my support.”
NASHVILLE White Lorenzo Carter Jerseys , Tenn. (AP) — We learned during the 2018 season that offense is beloved by NFL teams (and fans). We also learned that defense, as performed by the Patriots in the Super Bowl, carries away the Lombardi Trophy. This year’s draft, which begins Thursday night, is stocked with defenders who can be difference-makers. Many of them play up front and will go very high in the proceedings. Here’s one view of the first round, presuming no trades — something extremely unlikely.1. Arizona — You don’t hire a new coach out of college who plays a specific system and then not give him what he considers the perfect player to run that scheme. So Kliff Kingsbury gets …KYLER MURRAY, QB, OKLAHOMA2. San Francisco — Pedigree means plenty with this pick, even if the Niners‘ choice missed much of 2018 while injured. Yet another D-line early pick for San Francisco.NICK BOSA, DE, OHIO STATE3.New York Jets — The Jets easily could trade out of this spot. Staying put, they’ll put into their new uniforms a dynamic guy for the trenches.QUINNEN WILLIAMS, DL, ALABAMA4.Oakland — With the first of three picks in the opening round as the rebuild begins in earnest, the Raiders fill the chasm created by their trading of Khalil Mack last summer.JOSH ALLEN, LB, KENTUCKY5.Tampa Bay — Lots of holes here for Bruce Arians to get filled, and he’s an offensive-first guy. Someone with the Giants told me they were asking for the second pick of the draft from the 49ers, which the 49ers weren’t willing to do.”It’s unclear whether the 49ers offered anything other than the second overall pick. WHAT: Super Bowl LIIIWHERE: Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-mccourty-jersey , GeorgiaWHEN: Sunday, February 3Then comes the HOW…When the Rams and Pats pour out of the tunnels onto the artificial turf in Atlanta Sunday, 17 years to the day since they first met in SB XXXVI, history will be made. Regardless who ends up lifting the Lombardi, records will be set, dynasties will be created (or extended) and conversations over who is (or could be) the greatest of all-time will ensue. Here is a glimpse of the biggest things you need to know as you sit down in front of a sombrero-sized 7-layer dip.Boy wonderRams head coach Sean McVay turned 33-years-old just days after winning the NFC Championship, making him the youngest coach in NFL history to lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance. While history dictates the NFL as a “copycat league,” McVay and the Rams have flipped that preconceived notion on its head over the past two seasons. After taking control of the franchise as a 31-year-old with an offensive background, McVay turned a 4-12 Rams team into back-to-back NFC West champions while demonstrating he is one of the most brilliant minds in the game.Could they really do it again? In their 19th year together, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady look to complete a task never accomplished in modern NFL history: win six Super Bowls together. Looking to avenge last year’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the duo have now reached the season’s final game four of the last five years and for the ninth time overall in their partnership. In pro football history, only Vince Lombardi-Bart Starr (7) and Paul Brown-Otto Graham (7) have combined for more league championships, but neither have done so since the 1970 merger.Age is nothing but a numberWhile saying McVay is only 33 may turn some eyes Kyle Van Noy Jersey , without proper reference, it doesn’t truly do the trick. For example, his counterpart Belichick is 66-years-old. Yup, twice his age. Belichick, widely viewed as one of the best coaches in NFL– nay, sports– history did not reach his first Super Bowl as a head coach until age 49.The quarterback situation provides similar opportunities to be mind blown. Brady, 41, is not only eight years older than McVay, but 17 years older than Rams QB Jared Goff. Like Goff, the five-time champion Brady was 24 when playing in his first Super Bowl (in which he defeated the St. Louis Rams and future Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, who was nearly a decade his elder). Could history flip itself?Running (?) backsDespite missing the final two games of the regular season, Rams running back Todd Gurley finished the year leading the League in touchdowns (21), but went virtually unnoticed in the NFC Championship. Coming off a 115 yard Womens Chris Hogan Jersey , touchdown rushing performance in the Divisional Round, Gurley was limited to a career-low five touches (4 rush, 1 rec) against the Saints. In his place, veteran C.J. Anderson— who was signed in December when Gurley was out with a knee injury– has taken the majority of touches for LA. Since joining the team, Anderson has registered at least 16 carries a game and only once (vs the Saints) did he manage less than 100 yards. McVay noted he would put an emphasis on getting Gurley more attempts in the Super Bowl, but it will be worth keeping an eye on who is getting the bulk of the workload. On the other side, the Patriots have a dynamic running back tandem of their own. Veteran James White and rookie Sony Michel combine for a lethal one-two punch split between the air and ground games. Despite being listed as an RB, White is primarily a target in the passing game, tying a playoff record with 15 catches in the AFC Divisional Round against the Chargers without running the ball a single time. Michel, on the other hand, has carved his own path by gashing defenses in the rushing attack. Having carried the ball 53 times in the postseason, the rookie out of Georgia has tallied 242 yards and five TDs. He’s only been targeted once in the pass game. So for those keeping track at home: if White is in the game, expect a pass. If it’s Michel http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-marcus-cannon-jersey , expect a run.Pressure, pressing down on meDuring the regular season, the Patriots gave up just 21 sacks, good for the third fewest in the League. So far during the playoffs, Brady has yet to be brought down. However, they have not faced a pass rusher quite like the AP Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald. Donald, who led the league with 20.5 sacks in the regular season, stuffed the stat sheet once again on his way to a second-consecutive DPOY award. Despite not yet having a playoff sack to his name, Donald’s pressure is constantly being felt; in the Championship vs the Saints, he registered three QB hits on Drew Brees. That said, he is not the only one that can make a QB sweat. The Rams totaled 41 sacks during the regular season and have gotten into the backfield three times during the playoffs. If LA can put Brady on his back, there’s a good chance the Lombardi could be coming to the City of Champions. So now that you’re equipped with the biggest storylines Eric Rowe Jersey , some tidbits to drop throughout the game and certain personnel that will allow you to predict plays a la Tony Romo, it’s time to kick back with a bowl full of snacks and watch history unfold right before your eyes. Six teams quickly filled their head-coaching vacancies from Monday through Wednesday. Two remain. And they’ll remain vacant, pending this weekend’s results. And perhaps next weekend’s results. But amid multiple reports that the Dolphins plan to hire Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores and the Bengals plan to hire Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor, don’t forget the lesson that everyone learned a year ago with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels: It’s not done until it’s done. The league considered in the offseason a rule that would permit teams to officially hire assistant coaches from teams whose playoff runs have not ended. The league did not implement that rule, sticking with the current wink-nod-based approach in which informal arrangements are made but, formally, no offer has been extended. And it’s a two-way street. The teams can change their minds, the coaches can change their minds. It’s not a good look (especially if assistant coaches are hired under the assumption that the hire will happen), but it can happen. It has happened. And until the rule is changed there’s a chance it will happen again.
on Friday and it includes Blake Williams as a defensive assistant.Blake Williams is the son of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and has worked with his father in past stops. Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that Jets head coach Adam Gase initially “balked” at the suggestion that the younger Williams would be on the staff as the team’s linebackers coach and the older Williams “wasn’t happy” about that reaction. The defensive assistant position may have marked a compromise between the men when it came to putting together a staff that has other familial connections.Gase’s father-in-law Joe Vitt is on hand as a senior defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach and that could be an interesting fit with Williams. Vitt was once on the Saints staff with Williams and he testified that Williams was not truthful in his own testimony during the league’s bounty investigation. That resulted in Williams being suspended indefinitely and Vitt being suspended for six games Infant Blessuan Austin Jersey , which may make for some interesting interactions as they work together for the first time since the 2011 season. Cameron Smith Jersey nfl draft , Davante Adams listed as questionable against Vikings We’re just a couple of days away from the first of two matchups between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers this season. Ted brought us the injury report for the purple earlier today, and there aren’t very many names on it. The Packers’ injury report doesn’t have a lot of names on it either. . .however, the names on their report have a great deal of significance. The Packers have listed both quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams as “questionable” on their final injury report, which technically means that there’s a 50/50 chance that they will participate in Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field.Following his performance on Sunday Night Football, wherein he threw three touchdown passes, saved five kittens from a burning building, and reportedly turned water into Yuengling, Rodgers didn’t practice all week for the Packers. Not that he needs to practice From China Cameron Smith Jersey , necessarily, but if you’re looking for some tea leaves to read, that might be as close as you’re going to get.Adams did not practice on Wednesday, and was a limited participant in practice on both Thursday and Friday because of a shoulder issue. He’s the Packers’ leading receiving target, and his absence would likely cause some hugh problems for whoever the Packers quarterback might be on Sunday (which is totally going to be Rodgers). The only player that the Packers have ruled out of Sunday’s game is safety Josh Jones, who did not practice all with an ankle injury. The Packers have also listed rookie linebacker Oren Burks as questionable with a shoulder injury. Burks was limited in practice all week.I’m guessing there will be no end to the speculation about Rodgers’ status between now and ninety minutes before kickoff on Sunday when the inactive lists come out. I’d be pretty surprised if he didn’t play, but I’ve been surprised before. If anything definitive comes down between now and then, we’ll certainly have it here for you right away. From the field to the scouting department, Studwell had been with the team for 42 years, and had announced just prior to the draft that he was officially retiring from the team. The team honored Studwell on Saturday, and the Vikings were kind enough to give us an inside look at part of Studwell’s final day with the team.It starts with everyone in the War Room wearing shirts honoring Studwell, and Rick Spielman thanking him for his time with the team and declaring that he wants the team to have a “hell of a day” on Studwell’s final day with the team.Studwell is then shown making “the call” to the Vikings’ final pick of his final draft, Air Force long snapper Austin Cutting. As the tweet from the team points out, not only was it the final pick of the final draft Studwell would be a part of Stefon Diggs Jersey , but Cutting was selected with the same overall pick, #250, as Studwell was when the Vikings drafted him in 1977.The camera then shows us Bud Grant, who tells the story of how the Vikings came to draft Studwell, and how the legendary coach came to the conclusion that Studwell was his guy.Kudos to Scott Studwell on an outstanding career with the Minnesota Vikings, and thanks to the Vikings themselves for giving us a look behind the curtain at Studwell’s final day.

With the team already down one starting inside linebacker, Jake Ryan, their promising third round rookie suffered an injury in warm-ups that ended up making him a scratch for the game. After two impressive early performances from Oren Burks, who had the starting job essentially thrust upon him, seeing him hurt seriously would be one of the last things the team could afford. The team even traded for a linebacker on Sunday, acquiring Antonio Morrison from the Colts Justin McCray Jersey , which seemed to indicate that Burks could miss significant time.Luckily however, it appears that Burks' shoulder injury is not very serious. Head coach Mike McCarthy said as much in his Sunday press conference, and although he did not give a timeline for Burks' return, he said the injury should not be "a long term deal." Still, any time off for Burks - whether he misses only the preseason finale or if his absence extends into the regular season - will mean more responsibilities for the team's other linebackers. That group includes top backups Ahmad Thomas and Greer Martini in particular, but also the newly-arrived Morrison. Martini started next to Blake Martinez in Burks' place on Friday night Preston Smith Jersey , with Thomas taking the field on passing downs.Morrison's immediate role is unclear, but the former Colt was acquired on Sunday in exchange for cornerback Lenzy Pipkins. He was drafted a few picks ahead of Martinez in 2016 and is coming off a season that saw him start 15 games, but a new front office in Indy and several new linebackers had him on the outside of the roster bubble looking in. Now he'll have just under a week to demonstrate that he is worthy of a spot on the Packers' 53.When Burks does return, expect him to rejoin the starting lineup rght away. Through two preseason games he has looked like every bit the athletic, instinctive player that he was made out to be , chasing ball carriers sideline to sideline and being a pest for opposing running backs in the passing game as well. If his return does indeed come sooner rather than later Ty Summers Jersey 2019 , that will bode well for the defense as a whole.
ORCHARD PARK Tre’Davious White Jersey 2019 , N.Y. (AP) — Ryan Fitzpatrick has news for anyone believing the Dolphins intend to bow down meekly and tank their way to a winless season and the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft. The 15-year journeyman is no stranger to playing for rebuilding teams and saw signs of the Dolphins improving following a 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.“I think I’m the perfect man for this job, because I’ve been through it,” Fitzpatrick said. “I have zero ego. All I want to do is go out there and win. I want to bring an energy.”Fitzpatrick did just that Sunday, inspiring a winless and beleaguered Miami team to its best offensive performance of the season. The Dolphins (0-6) became the first opponent to score more than 17 points against the Bills this season. And Fitzpatrick became the first to top 250 yards against Buffalo since New England’s Tom Brady did it in prime time last October.Playing on the field where he created the “FitzMagic” buzz in 2011, Fitzpatrick went 23 of 35 passing for 282 yards and a touchdown. He ran for an 11-yard TD with 1:45 left by lowering his head and powering through Bills safety Micah Hyde at the goal line. But as has often happened during his career, Fitzpatrick was undone by one fateful play. With 5:07 left in the third quarter, Miami was up 14-9 and had a second-and-goal at Buffalo’s 12. Fitzpatrick threw a pass toward Isaiah Ford in the right corner of the end zone only to have it intercepted by a diving Tre’Davious White. The Bills then marched 98 yards to the go-ahead touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Josh Allen to John Brown on the third play of the fourth quarter. White then set up another touchdown after he punched the ball out of the hands of rookie receiver Preston Williams.Though the Dolphins fell short a week after a 17-16 loss to Washington, they continued sending a message of not buying into fans scooping up “Tank For Tua” T-shirts, in reference to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.White was impressed by how Fitzpatrick kept Buffalo’s defense at bay by leading consecutive 75-yard touchdown drives.“He did a great job of picking us apart early and often and extending drives and having our offense on the sideline,” White said. “He did a great job of reading our coverages and our disguises.”Dolphins rookie coach Brian Flores credited Fitzpatrick for “playing well,” and acknowledged the quarterback earned the right to earn another start ahead of second-year quarterback Josh Rosen.“He got us out of trouble a couple of times, and made some plays for us,” Flores said. “We’ve got to continue to build and get better and finish a game.”Fitzpatrick can relate to how a team can improve. He was part of the Bills opening 0-8 in 2010 after replacing starter Trent Edwards three games into the season before Buffalo won four of its final eight. The same White Zay Jones Jerseys , he believes, could happen in Miami.“I want to try to be that guy, the stable guy that they can look to when things get a little shaky,” he said. “I’ve had a different career than a lot of quarterbacks. It’s a career I’ve loved and a position that I like being in.”Fitzpatrick is very fond of the four years he spent with the Bills, and had to laugh in noting he made one fundamental mistake before the opening kickoff. He walked out of the visiting locker room and turned right — the way the Bills turn when they head out to the field — rather than left. For two-plus quarters, Fitzpatrick had the Dolphins pointed in the right direction. Just like everyone expected, the Buffalo Bills - starting their fourth quarterback of the year in Matt Barkley - are putting together their best offensive performance of the season against the New York Jets. Their defense is equally effective, smothering the Jets with a scoreless result. It’s 31-3 at halftime. The first quarter was all Buffalo, from start to finish. On the first play from scrimmage, Matt Barkley hooked up with Robert Foster for a 48 yard completion. The next play, LeSean McCoy ran in a 28 yard touchdown, his first score of the season. The Bills forced three three-and-outs by the Jets, with the front seven consistently blowing up run plays and bringing pressure to disrupt the passing schedule. On their third drive Zay Jones Jerseys 2019 , Buffalo extended the drive with a fake punt. Logan Thomas took the snap and threw the ball to Foster for a 16 yard gain. Barkley found Zay Jones in the red zone for a completion, and Jones tried diving for the goalline. A scrum of Jets forced Jones to fumble, but Jason Croom showed great awareness diving on the ball in the end zone, giving Buffalo their second score of the day. By the end of the first quarter, the Bills led the Jets 14-0, with 186 yards of offense - to New York’s single yard. The Bills started the second quarter with the ball, but on a fourth-and-one play LeSean McCoy made an illegal shift to wipe out his conversion. The team settled for a field goal to take a 17-0 lead. After the Jets’ fourth three-and-out, the boo birds started flying in the Meadowlands. Announcer Jay Feely remarked on the attitude difference between the two sidelines at that point. The difference continued when Buffalo took over on offense. Jones continued finding holes in the Jets defense, and the tag team of McCoy and Marcus Murphy dragged the Bills into the red zone yet again. Then it was time for another trick play. Left tackle Dion Dawkins, declared an eligible receiver, faked a block and leaked into the end zone, where Matt Barkley connected with him for the first touchdown pass of the afternoon. The Jets finally managed their first first down of the day, converting a 3rd and 16 with an 18-yard screen play. They weren’t able to capitalize on that success White Dion Dawkins Jerseys , though - a Bills blitz forced Josh McCown into a desperation heave, which Matt Milano intercepted and brought back to midfield.Buffalo ran the ball seven times for 54 yards on their final drive of the half, needing no passes to score one more time. LeSean McCoy appeared to score earlier in the drive, but was ruled down at essentially the six inch line. He punched it in for real two plays later. The Jets scored a consolation three at the end of the half, navigating soft coverage with three timeouts to convert a 55 yard field goal. The Bills, taking advantage of a bad team, some injuries, and their aggressive decisions, would need a dramatic reversal to lose this one - they’re up 28 points, and the Jets have lost 14 straight while losing at halftime. As you watch the second half, feel free to comment below!
are feeding off it on what they hope is the path back to the playoff hunt. Jones threw a touchdown pass and created excitement with his arm and legs Mark Bavaro Jersey , Saquon Barkley's replacement Wayne Gallman scored two touchdowns, and Jabrill Peppers scored on a 32-yard interception return to lead the suddenly revived Giants to 24-3 victory over the winless Washington Redskins on Sunday."This is a team beginning to play a little better, we're beginning to jell," said veteran cornerback Michael Thomas after the Giants (2-2) won their second straight. "Daniel has been a difference with those fresh legs, young legs, and making plays. They (the offense) have some stuff to work on and we do, too. But I like the things we are doing and we just want to keep getting better."The mistake-prone Redskins (0-4) are heading the other way. They were limited to 176 total yards by the much-maligned New York defense and they didn't get a boost when embattled coach Jay Gruden inserted first-round pick Dwayne Haskins Jr. at quarterback for Case Keenum.New York intercepted the pair four times, with Haskins throwing the last three. The Redskins' start is their worst since losing their first five in 2001."You're 0-4 and you've got two options http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-eli-manning-jersey ," Gruden said. Reality has set in."Jones, the No. 6 pick overall in the draft, has the Giants thinking about the here and now since replacing two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning as the starting quarterback. He rallied New York from an 18-point deficit in his first start against the Buccaneers last week, and was solid early, leading New York to touchdown runs on its first two series. The Duke product was 23 of 31 for 225 yards with two interceptions. Winning tends to overshadow the mistakes."We have to improve a number of things as a team if we want to keep it going Kevin Zeitler Jersey ," Jones said. "I think it's important that we understand that and like I said, keep moving forward." Gallman, who is going to start for the foreseeable future with Barkley battling a high ankle sprain, caught a 6-yard TD pass and scored on a 1-yard run to stake New York to a 14-0 lead."All I feel is energy from my teammates," Gallman said. "We want it and we just want to be better. I can only picture how much better we can be next week."Keenum was 6 of 11 for 37 yards and an interception when Haskins came on midway through the second quarter. The move came after Quinton Dunbar picked off Jones on consecutive passes, but Haskins went 9 of 17 for 107 yards and could produce only a 21-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins on his initial series. He was picked off three times, the last two by Janoris Jenkins ."I had a whole bunch of emotions. I wanted to win the game," Haskins said. "We didn't. It's on to next week."Keenum Womens Saquon Barkley Jersey , who had battled a foot injury this week, did not sound happy being lifted. He said he was surprised.Rookie linebacker Ryan Connelly's second interception in as many weeks set up an opening 32-yard drive that Gallman ended with his reception. Gallman's short run ended a 13-play, 94-yard march the Redskins kept alive when a third-down holding penalty on cornerback Fabian Moreau nullified a sack.Washington was flagged 12 times for 58 yards.Jones kept the first drive alive with a 5-yard pass to Sterling Shepard on a gutsy decision by coach Pat Shurmur to go for it on fourth-and-2 at the Redskins 24.Aldrick Rosas kicked a 30-yard field goal on the final play of the first half and Peppers closed out the scoring with his interception return.BANGED UPWashington came into the game short-handed on offense. Saquon Barkley got his best advice this offseason not during a practice or workout, but at the Met Gala.Barkley was at the major annual fashion event at Metropolitan Museum of Art when he saw fellow guest Tom Brady. And he says Brady urged him not to take his Rookie of the Year award and think he’s arrived, but to consider it just a first step.“It’s great to do it for one season, but can you do it for five? Can you do it for 10?” Barkley recalled Brady saying to him, via NJ.com. “I’m standing there at the Met Gala ready to run through a brick wall.”Barkley said getting tips from veterans like Brady and Eli Manning has been important to his development.“Sometimes you take it for granted,” Barkley said, “but to able to talk to legends that you’ve been watching for a very long time? Every day I talk to one with Eli. You don’t really take the time to cherish it. You are so caught up in the moment. Sometimes Aldrick Rosas Jersey , you have to take a step back.”Barkley is, at 22, 20 years younger than Brady. the ball to Le'Veon Bell over their years together in Pittsburgh and Bell’s new quarterback is looking forward to the same kind of results.Sam Darnold will have to wait a few more days before the Jets open up their offseason program White Steve McLendon Jerseys , but he’s spent time watching Bell on tape and sees ways that the team’s big free agent pickup can make life easier in 2019 and beyond. In addition to Bell’s ability to make plays as a runner, Darnold has also taken note of his ability to turn a check down into something more productive.“I love it,” Darnold said, via . “I mean, what’s not to love about it? Le’Veon is a great player. He’s very instinctual too. He’s very quarterback friendly, which I’ve noticed watching his tape a little bit. Whenever Big Ben was back there, you could kind of sense that, as a quarterback Steve McLendon Jerseys 2019 , too, you sense when time runs out. You start looking for guys and Le’Veon is always really friendly and he’s always kind of right there in your vision. Or he was always in Ben’s vision. So I’m looking forward to that, just whenever I need him, just him to be that security blanket that I need to just check it down and he can get yards after the catch. So I’m really excited about it.”Developing Darnold has been a top priority for the Jets since they took him with the third overall pick last year and Bell’s ability to provide more options for the offense should fit right into that process. The Jets will get to start working with both players on Monday and having them on the same page come September will be a chief focus of all their offseason work. Jets running back Le'Veon Bell frequently posts on social media about the way he spends his free time, which includes making music and playing basketball. Like most celebrities, he gets a fair amount of criticism from trolls. It appears that Bell takes that criticism personally.Bell posted an Instagram video complaining about the fans who go after him for his personal life, saying that he’s entitled to doing what he wants in his free time.“I’m tired of social media s–t, I’m tired everybody telling me White Quincy Enunwa Jerseys , ‘Oh, Le’Veon, you not focused. You only wanna make music. You wanna play basketball. You do everything besides play football,'” Bell said. “Let me tell you all something. You think when they work from 9 to 5 Quincy Enunwa Jerseys 2019 , they go home and all they’re worried about is putting f–king s–t on the shelves? You think Bron is waking up, and he ain’t have no Taco Tuesdays? Bron don’t have Taco Tuesdays, you think he’s hoopin’ all day? You think Beyoncé is waking up singing all day? She don’t go to work, she don’t act? She don’t do nothing else with her kids? She’s waking up singing?”Bell has taken plenty of heat over the last year, when he decided not to play at all rather than spend one final year with the Steelers before hitting free agency. Fortunately for Bell, the season will start soon, the talk will become irrelevant and Bell can prove himself with his actions on the field.
Vikings 2018 SeasonVikings 2019 OffseasonU.S. Bank StadiumMinnesota Vikings PodcastsMinnesota Vikings Free Agency Report: Dan Bailey re-signs with the VikingsNew Trae Waynes Jersey ,124commentsHabemus Kicker!CDTShareTweetShareShareMinnesota Vikings Free Agency Report: Dan Bailey re-signs with the VikingsEric Hartline-USA TODAY SportsWhen free agency began, one of the needs the Vikings had was kicker. But let’s face it, kicker is always a need for the Vikings, because Vikings kickers have a hard time hitting water if they fall out of a boat on Lake of the Woods, much less...you know...making kicks.Last year’s heart attack inducer, Dan Bailey, looks like he’ll be returning:Bailey, if you’ll remember, was signed to replace Daniel Carlson, who missed three potential game winning field goals in a week two tie at Green Bay. If he makes one of them, The Vikes end up 9-7, and get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. But, Carlson missed...all of them...and Minnesota signed a guy who was the second most accurate kicker in NFL history. He immediately sucked when he joined the VIkings, though, making only 4/9 field goals from 40-49 yards, 1 of 2 from 50 or more, and only 75% of his field goals overall with the Vikings (21/28). Because of course he did, as kicker is black cloud that hangs over this franchise for reasons that escape me.But, is he the final solution for 2019? Maybe, maybe not:I doubt they’d draft a guy, not after the Walsh and Carlson fiascos, but bringing in an undrafted free agent, or a street free agent feels like a possibility. So, HABEMUS KICKER! One aspect of Kubiak’s scheme is a greater use of double tight-end formations. That allows the Vikings to use both Rudolph and presumably Irv Smith Jr. more often on the field together. Both Rudolph and Smith may be lined-up in-line, in the backfield, in the slot, or even outside. The combination gives the Vikings more blocking man-power, whether run or pass, as the extra tight-end can either run block, stay-in to pass block, or chip block on his way out on a route.Of course the Vikings have other options that they could pair with Smith, but could they do so as well- or better - than Rudolph? As Pro Football Focus pointed out in a recent piece on Rudolph Infant Marcus Epps Jersey , he has had middling overall numbers for the most part throughout his career. But where he has excelled is in money situations - late down and red zone receptions.Last season was Rudolph’s best on late downs - producing a passer rating of 124.8 when targeted last year.He ranked third behind only Evan Engram and Travis Kelce among tight-ends in that category. His 84.2% catch-rate last season, with only 1 drop, was also a career-high.Rudolph also had the lowest drop-rate in the league last year among TEs with at least 50 targets. His 111.9 passer rating when targeted in the red zone the past three seasons adds to his value.Rudolph also was in the top 5 among TEs when lined-up in the slot last season, including yards per route run, catch rate, TDs, drops, and receiving yards among TEs with at least 175 snaps in the slot, according to PFF.It may be that a guy like Tyler Conklin can eventually develop into a tight-end who can replace Rudolph, but at this point throwing him out there with a rookie TE in Irv Smith Jr. is a rather risky option - both TEs having little to no NFL game experience at this point. For a team needing to improve offensively, and adopting Kubiak’s scheme, it would seem a bit of a disconnect to get rid of Rudolph in favor of an unproven successor - and pairing him with a rookie.Tight-end can often be a position, like many others, that takes a couple years to get the hang of in the NFL.Doubling DownBeing able to run more double-TE sets also figures well for getting the most out of QB Kirk Cousins. Since 2015, Cousins has been the best QB in the league in terms of passer rating (112.8), adjusted completion percentage (83.3%), and yards per attempt (9.39) in double TE formations (12 and 22 personnel groups), according to PFF.So, keeping a solid veteran TE, along with a top rookie prospect, to (hopefully) field a solid and versatile TE pairing, makes even more sense when trying to maximize the effectiveness of the overall offense.Saving Salary Cap Today, We’ll See About TomorrowThe other aspect of extending Kyle Rudolph appears to be the way in which the contract was structured. The final details have yet to be released, but so far we know, according to Ian Rapoport, that only $16 million of Rudolph’s salary is guaranteed Marcus Epps Jersey nfl draft , and $9 million of that is this year’s salary. We also know, per Tom Peliserro, that the Vikings also managed to save about $4 million in salary cap space this year with Rudolph’s extension.Presumably that cap savings was generated by making $5 million of Rudolph’s salary this year into a signing bonus, which would spread that amount of salary cap hit out over the remaining years, and creating additional dead cap if Rudolph were to be released or traded. That being the case, the Vikings could release Rudolph in 2 years with a $3 million dead cap hit. It’s unclear if Rudolph’s salary cap hit is level throughout, or if it’s backloaded. For example, the salary cap hit could be $7.5MM, $8.5MM, $9.5MM, and $10.5MM over the additional four years.Overall, that would effectively give the Vikings some salary cap space now, while taking a wait-and-see approach to Rudolph in the future - beyond 2020.Super Bowl Window Still OpenLast season was a disappointment, but the Vikings Super Bowl window remains open. The Vikings defense remains strong, and likely a top 10 unit again this season.Meanwhile the Vikings offense, under the guidance of a veteran offense mind in Gary Kubiak, having quality at all the skill positions, and (hopefully) an improved offensive line, looks as promising as ever.Keeping Rudolph around, if only to move the chains on occasion and catch the occasional TD, makes sense as the Vikings prepare for a deep push into the post-season.He’s not the athletic TE that many of the elite names like Travis Kelce are, but he knows what works - which is often using his length to catch a ball only he can reach. And it’s good to have a safety valve like that on money downs to keep drives going - or finish them.
Mike Daniels Jersey , Green Bay had a good showing but will be shut out of the top 25 again this year."Each year, the NFL releases a ten-part weekly series counting down the Top 100 players in the league, as voted on by their peers. That usually comes out in the late spring to help bridge the gap between the NFL Draft and the start of training camps.Pro Football Focus, however, is publishing their list of the Top 101 players in the 2018 season this week. Although the Green Bay Packers did not land a player between 50 and 101, in the third installment — players 26 through 50 — the team is well-represented. Four Packers showed up in that grouping, including three members of the offense. Let’s look at them one-by-one.#48: Wide receiver Davante AdamsWe’ll have to wait to see how many receivers rank ahead of Davante, but he was unquestionably one of the best wideouts in the NFL this year. He finished the season sixth in receptions, seventh in receiving yards Brett Favre Jersey , and second in touchdowns, and he would have been higher in at least the first two categories had he not sat out week 17’s game with a knee injury. Although his DVOA numbers don’t match up to his lofty PFF grade (87.8) or raw stats, much of that is likely due to Mike McCarthy’s scheme doing him no favors.#43: Defensive tackle Kenny ClarkLast year: 69thThe monster in the middle of the Packers’ defense, Clark was more than deserving of a Pro Bowl honor in 2018, though he was denied. In 13 games, he racked up six sacks and provided far more pass rush than one would expect from a traditional 3-4 nose tackle. In fact, PFF credited him with a pass-rush grade of 88.8 on the year, while also noting that he ranked 16th among interior linemen in run stop rate (9.9%).#41: Quarterback Aaron RodgersPFF gave Rodgers the sixth-highest grade of any quarterback in the NFL this season, and had him ranked third in passer rating when throwing the ball 20 yards or more downfield. We all know that what we saw from Rodgers in 2018 was less than stellar Paul Hornung Jersey , but his yards per completion number finally climbed back near 12 (11.9, to be exact), the first time it has been above 11.0 since his last MVP season in 2014.#39: Left tackle David BakhtiariLast year: 30thTwo spots ahead of Rodgers is the man named the best pass-protector in the league by PFF. They credited him with allowing just 25 pressures in 16 games, only seven of which resulted in hits on Rodgers. The Packers’ four best players all showed up on the second-to-last portion of this list, so don’t expect any more members of the Green and Gold to appear in the Top 25. The 2017 team also failed to place anyone in the top 25, with Bakhtiari’s #30 ranking being the top spot held by a Green Bay player. Hopefully they won’t be shut out of that upper section for a third year in a row in 2019. Russ Ball held the operations job last season.Green Bay is coming off a 6-9-1 season that left the Packers out of the playoffs for the second straight year.Hendrickson was a training-camp intern for Green Bay in 2004. He holds a master’s degree in exercise and sports science-sports administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he was also an assistant coach in 1996.The Packers also named Kirk Olivadotti inside linebackers coach, Justin Outten tight ends coach and Adam Stenavich offensive line coach.Olivadotti has spent all 16 seasons as a coach in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, including the last five as inside linebackers coach. Outten was an offensive assistant for the Atlanta Falcons the past two seasons and Stenavich spent the past two seasons as an assistant offensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers.
or Case Keenum is the current No. 1 quarterback in Washington T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , it’s easy to forget that the No. 15 pick in the draft is lurking. And regardless of what McCoy or Keenum do in the preseason opener at Cleveland, the more important question is whether and to what extent former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins will thrive in his unofficial NFL debut.“We’ll see how he does in a game,” Washington coach Jay Gruden told reporters on Tuesday, making it clear that Haskins and two other quarterbacks (presumably McCoy and Keenum) will play. “It will be kind of cool to see him in a game. We’ll see how he does. We’ll see how he’s taken what he’s done on the practice field to see how it transitions into a real game situation. And how he handles the huddles and cadence, anticipation, accuracy — all that good stuff.”So Haskins is ready to play?“Got to play sometime there, so now is as good a time as any,” Gruden said. “We’ll see how he does.”Haskins is listed as the third-string quarterback on the supposedly “silly” and meaningless unofficial depth chart, behind McCoy and Keenum. But if Haskins ends up being the third quarterback in Thursday’s game, he’ll be playing behind low-level backup blockers who will be trying to fend off low-level defensive players who would love nothing more than to get the attention of their coach by knocking Haskins all the way from Cleveland to Columbus. Thus, Gruden may need to tread lightly with his rookie quarterback, because the only thing clear about the depth chart at the position is that https://www.brownsfanshop.com , eventually, Haskins will be the guy. Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $14,037 for a uniform violation, and he is not happy about it.On Monday night, Beckham posted the letter he received from the NFL informing him of the fine for his uniform pants not covering his knees during the Week Six game against Seattle. Brady for the skillset Rodgers brings to the position.“Tom’s been at the top of his game for over a decade,” Rodgers said. “Obviously, we play a little bit different style of game, but the stuff that he does well is stuff that over my career I’ve tried to incorporate into my own game.“I enjoy competing against great players and obviously Tom is right at the top.”It’s similar to how Brady describes Rodgers.“What he’s done as a quarterback, I think it is inspiring even for me,” Brady said. “I watch his game and it makes me want to get out there and practice and improve because I think he’s so phenomenal with the way he manages himself in the pocket and his ability to throw the football is unlike anyone probably in the history of the league.”Though he wants to play until he’s 45 Green Bay Packers Customized Jerseys , Brady will presumably retire before Rodgers, leaving the 34-year-old time to narrow the gap between them in career numbers. But neither is interested in playing the hypothetical game about who the better quarterback is.“I don’t really try to get into the ‘what-if’ game,” Rodgers said. “I’m fortunate to have been drafted here and sit behind Brett (Favre) for three years. He was obviously drafted late there … so his chip might have been a little bit bigger than mine starting out his career.“There’s a lot of pride in that legacy part of your career, and I think him and I both feel the same way about our organizations.”Brady also called any similar debate about the greatest quarterback of all-time a fruitless endeavor. Though he knows one name that belongs on his list.“It’s hard to compare positions and eras. It’s impossible to answer,” Brady said. “I think Aaron is one of the best ever to play the game. He’s got every skill you need to be a great quarterback.”Here are some things to watch for in Sunday’s game:MILESTONE WATCHBrady enters Sunday’s game second in NFL history for the most combination passing, rushing and receiving yards in the regular-season and playoffs. Peyton Manning tops the list with 79,978 yards. Brady is next with 79,781.SAFETY DANCEThe trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix means that the Green Bay Packers are without a five-year starter at safety .Clinton-Dix, who led the team with three interceptions, was the most experienced player at a position that was still mired by inconsistency. Possible replacements include Jermain Whitehead, who missed practice at midweek with a back injury; or Josh Jones, a second-year player who missed time earlier this year with an ankle injury. Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams also has a couple games of experience playing safety while with the Browns a couple years ago. Cornerback Bashaud Breeland appears to be getting healthier from a hamstring injury and might be ready to play. The Packers didn’t acquire players at the trade deadline, a sign that general manager Brian Gutekunst might like the depth in the secondary even without Clinton-Dix.COMING A LONG WAYDavante Adams was a rookie the last time these teams played in 2014 at Lambeau Field. That 26-21 win by the Packers was a milestone game for Adams, now Green Bay’s No. 1 receiver.Adams had six catches for 121 yards in the game Green Bay Packers T-Shirts , taking advantage of more targets after the Patriots elected to blanket then-top wideout Jordy Nelson. Now the roles might be reversed, and Adams could be the player who gets extra attention. If that’s the case, it won’t be much different from what Adams has faced all year. Adams has had at least 132 yards receiving in each of the last three games. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — At some point soon, Davante Adams will reach out to an old friend, someone who instilled the kind of good habits that have helped make the Green Bay Packers star one of the best receivers in the NFL.Adams might even break a record held by his buddy and former teammate, Jordy Nelson.Adams has 1,315 yards receiving going into this weekend’s game against the New York Jets, 205 yards shy of eclipsing the club single-season mark set of 1,519 set by Nelson in 2014.This could be a bit of an awkward conversation when the Packers’ current and former top wideouts catch up next.“I don’t want to bring it up, I don’t want to jinx it,” Adams said with a smile.Nelson may even try to jinx him, too, he joked. If he gets the record https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/hats , “Jordy will definitely be one of the first ones to get a call,” Adams said this week. “If not, I’m sure he’ll hit me up before the game’s even over. It happens, we’ll see.”Adams has a decent shot at the mark over the final two weeks in a season in which he is averaging career highs in yards per game (93.9) and catch percentage (66.2). This weekend, the Packers face the NFL’s 19th-ranked pass defense in the Jets, who are giving up 243.4 yards per game through the air.Adams also has 100 catches for the first time in his career, leaving him 13 shy of breaking the club record set by Sterling Sharpe in 1993.Having Aaron Rodgers behind center will help. The two-time NFL MVP appears likely to start, even with the Packers (5-8-1) already eliminated from the playoffs and Rodgers playing through injuries. The franchise quarterback was a full participant in practice at midweek with his lingering left knee injury, along with an apparent minor groin injury sustained during last week’s loss to the Chicago Bears.Rodgers and Adams are the Packers’ lone selections to the Pro Bowl. Adams has been Rodgers’ most reliable receiver; Rodgers has been Adams’ biggest cheerleader.“We’ve been saying it all year, whether or not – people have been debating, I think – or whether or not he’s an elite player, a No. 1 receiver and all this garbage. He’s had a fantastic year, and he deserves it,” Rodgers said.Adams said he’s not keeping count with every catch Green Bay Packers Hoodie , though he allows himself to acknowledge that getting the records “would be cool. We’ll see. Hopefully A-Rod’s counting.”Nelson once had that role as Rodgers’ most trusted receiver. Adams was a rookie in 2014 when Nelson set the club receiving yards mark. But Nelson was cut by the Packers this past March as a salary cap casualty after coming off a down 2017 season. He landed with Oakland, where he has 47 catches for 586 yards and three touchdowns.Randall Cobb, another Packers veteran who has been a big help to Adams, is in the last year of his deal with Green Bay.“It’s well deserved obviously, with what they’ve done with me and how they kind of taught me to go, not so much with words but with actions,” Adams said. “That’s really what sets people apart. The things they’ve been able to do for me and my career, I can’t thank them enough.”Adams credits Nelson and Cobb for helping him establish good habits in practice, as well as dealing with media responsibilities in the locker room. He’s trying to take a similar leadership role now with younger receivers on the team.“I never lead them in the wrong direction, I know that they understand that,” Adams said. “That’s going to lead into them taking the talent they have now and evolve it into an elite player.”NOTES: RT Bryan Bulaga (knee) was limited for a second straight practice, a sign that the veteran starter was closer to returning after missing two games. … Cobb (concussion) and DL Kenny Clark (elbow) sat out practice again. … P JK Scott returned to practice after missing a day because of illness.
unable to perform list at the start of camp in moves that keep them from practicing while they remain on the 90-man roster. Some of those player revert to the reserve PUP list at the cut to 53 players Khari Willis Jersey , which leaves them unable to play for the first six weeks of the season. It’s rare that players hit that reserve list during camp because it ends their season, but that’s how things played out for Colts running back Spencer Ware. The Colts announced the move on Friday afternoon along with the signing of Dadi Nicolas. The move takes Ware off the 90-man roster and could help Jonathan Williams‘s chances of making the team http://www.coltsfanshop.com/Bobby-Okereke-Jersey , although the Colts met with Mike Gillislee this week.Nicolas signed with the Colts in May and was cut just before training camp. The 2016 Chiefs sixth-round pick played 11 games as a rookie and has not appeared in the regular season the last two years. Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich had his weekly conference call with the media today.Reich confirmed today that second year pass rusher Kemoko Turay suffered a broken ankle and dislocation in Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. This means Turay will be out for the season and go on the teams injured reserve. It is a very hard one to swallow especially as Turay has been very good this year rushing the passer and was a big part of how the Colts defense was consistently able to pressure Patrick Mahomes. This could mean a bigger role now for rookie Ben Banogu. Reich mentioned that the Colts defense game planned to play more man coverage. It was evident to see the defense play more man coverage, Reich mentioned it was used to try to disrupt the timing of Chiefs offense by trying to slow them down. The amount of man coverage the Colts defense used was not typical for the team Parris Campbell Jersey , as they usually are a zone heavy defense. However, the fact that the defense was able to adapt to match up with one of the best offenses in the league shows lots of promise heading forward.
Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers Chris Carson Color Rush Jersey , and the most important news is the fact that Doug Baldwin isn’t inactive. He was a game-time decision due to a groin injury, but he went through walkthroughs and is good to go.Among those not playing is linebacker K.J. Wright, who was already ruled out on Friday with a knee injury. Austin Calitro will take his place. Rather surprisingly, both Joey Hunt and Jordan Simmons are inactive, so that means Ethan Pocic is surely the backup option in case something happens to either Justin Britt or DJ Fluker. On defense, Poona Ford and Branden Jackson are both scratches, as the UDFA Ford continues to find it difficult to get playing time on a weekly basis. Here are the inactives for both teams:Seattle SeahawksLB K.J. I wouldn’t have changed my helmet unless they made these rules changes.”Of course, Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown doesn’t want to do just that, and has filed a grievance over keeping his old helmet (which the league’s safety rules have deemed obsolete). That may be just part of the story which has taken so many twists and turns Rashaad Penny Color Rush Jersey , but the willful hostility toward safety is the most peculiar to players who have dug deeper into what can be done to protect them.Doug Baldwin became an investor in Vicis, a Seattle-area helmet manufacturer. As a football player, he had a vested interest in the safety of football players, and for him the choice was easy.“If you have a helmet out there that is proven to be safer in a number of different ways, why wouldn’t you wear that helmet?,” Baldwin said. “In the grand scheme of things, I want to make sure I have all the marbles that I was born with to experience life and to enjoy life with my family and with my future children.”Lions wide receiver Jermaine Kearse Doug Baldwin Color Rush Jersey , a former Seahawks teammate of Baldwin, also became an advocate for the company after changing equipment.“You see and hear a lot of articles and a lot of talk about CTE these days, and you know the effects of concussions.,” Kearse said. “My change [to the Vicis helmet] . . . a little bit of my decision was, How can I protect myself further down the road when football is not a part of my life? Is looking cool out there on the field or wearing a helmet from back in college because it’s comfortable worth it?”Brown apparently thinks so, in his effort to be the one exception to a rule designed to protect every player.
